How to use a slow cooker and what you can cook in it is indicated in the instructions. But whether it is possible to wash a multicooker in a dishwasher is a moot point, not every user manual says that. The only unambiguous rule: since this is an electrical appliance, it is impossible to completely shove it into the PMM. You can wash the equipment in parts: partially by hand and in the PMM.
We will understand the intricacies of washing the multicooker below.
Bowl care
The main removable part of the multicooker is the bowl. This part of the appliance is constantly contaminated and requires careful maintenance. The method of washing the multicooker bowl depends on the material from which it is made. They are made in one of two possible options:
- from aluminum;
- from stainless steel.
Both materials are durable and slightly susceptible to any external influences, therefore, it would seem that there should be no contraindications to washing in a dishwasher. At the same time, it is worth considering the type of bowl coating: it is non-stick, so it is easy to damage a thin layer. High water temperature, abrasive components in detergents can cause significant damage to the non-stick properties of the bowl. Therefore, it is recommended to wash it in manual mode.
This must be done carefully, based on the type of coating material:
- The Teflon coating can break down when the temperature jumps, so before you wash the bowl, completely cool it. Wash only with soft sponges and non-abrasive detergents.
- The ceramic coating is unstable before mechanical stress, so abrasive brushes should be put aside. Anti-grease and a soft foam sponge are best suited for treating a dirty bowl, removing food debris and fat.
In addition to the bowl in the multicooker, there are many other details, so we will consider further how to handle them in order to keep them clean without titanic efforts.
Processing of multicooker parts: in the dishwasher or manually
Each element requires an individual approach from the user. Consider the methods of care in the table.
Detail | Care Method |
Bottom | To clean the bottom of grease and other contaminants that are formed due to the accumulation of condensate inside the body, you can use wet wipes. Before wiping the bottom, remove crumbs and hard food grains from the surface that could scratch the materials. |
Heating plate | It should always be kept clean and in the absence of moisture. To wash the heater from dirt, use ordinary soda - dilute it in water and moisten a cloth in the solution. Brush away any remaining moisture with a dry cloth or sponge. |
Cap | Wash grease stains off the lid with a microfiber cloth. In this case, it is allowed to use liquid or gel for washing dishes. |
Condensate collector | The moisture collecting container is removable, so it is enough to periodically rinse it with water from the tap, without using detergent. |
Steam valve | The removable valve is enough to rinse once a week with warm water. Use grease breakers to clean the mesh. |
Wipe the multicooker body with an ordinary damp cloth, not forgetting to first de-energize the equipment.
What you can wash in the PMM
The manufacturer applies a lot of useful accessories to multicookers and pressure cookers, and housewives buy them separately if necessary. Whether parts can be washed in a dishwasher depends on the materials from which they are made.
- Removable plates and rings: silicone or plastic.
- Double boiler: metal or plastic.
- Measured containers and jars for making homemade yogurt: glass or plastic.
- The fryer is usually metal.
- Shovel, soup ladle or tongs: made of plastic, metal or combined.
The listed accessories can be safely loaded into the dishwasher hopper. Plastic, metal or glass will not be damaged by the action of water or strong detergents. Silicone parts can also be sent to PMM.
Important! The only accessory that is manually cleaned of burnt food is a deep fat fryer: this way you will have more chances to qualitatively wash it from traces of fat.
So, everything that is non-removable and located inside the multicooker is best handled, and removable items, including a double boiler, measuring tank, vanes, etc., can be sent to the PMM bunker. Decide on the cup yourself, bearing in mind that a fragile non-stick coating may suffer, and the price of a new cup reaches half the cost of a new appliance.
